Meet Our Team
After 30+ years in the home building industry, Jim Spangler has taken all he’s learned to form Hidden Valley Homes’ (HVH) driving philosophy: quality without compromise. While striving to go above and beyond basic building standards and to deliver superior quality, Jim has helped change the luxury homebuilding model. Working with a handpicked (and personally mentored!) team of craftsmen, Jim has helped his clients discover the joy and satisfaction of designing homes perfectly tailored to their lifestyles.
Then in March 2015 Jim’s vision at HVH inspired the birth of HV Urban. In fact, customer satisfaction is the real reason that Jim takes such pride in HVH and HV Urban. Being able to witness – and contribute to the joy of helping people acquire their dream home motivates and inspires Jim to continue doing what he loves… building custom homes! Jim graduated from Shippensburg State College and spent nineteen years with NVR, learning the ropes of the home building and mortgage business. One of the reasons he’s such a great “boss” is that he’s seen and done it all. He’s been a sales rep, a project manager, sales manager, a regional manager, and an area president.
Now, as President of Hidden Valley Homes and Partner at HV Urban, Jim leads with firm, but fair expectations. He relies on lessons learned from one of his personal mentors at NVR and strives to maintain exceptional personal values and morals while remaining focused and driven as a homebuilding professional. With all of Jim’s professional success, he’s remained incredibly humble and it takes a bit of digging to learn that Jim is highly lauded in this industry.
Jim is now bringing his award winning skills, deep relationships with vendors and professional processes to the heart of Nashville via HV Urban. It is the relationships that Jim has developed with his team and with his clients of which he’s most proud. It’s not unusual to see Jim on the fairway with clients and co-workers, mixing work with pleasure and helping homeowners realize their dream!
None of John’s lifelong friends would be surprised that he’s a partner in Hidden Valley Homes inspired HV Urban. He’s always been obsessed with home design, innovative products and community.
With a degree in Electrical Engineering, John’s career advanced quickly and grew into executive management positions at General Electric. But the lure of the homebuilding industry continued to entice John, so after graduating with his MBA from The University of Notre Dame, John followed his heart and took a job as a Division Vice President at a top 5 publicly traded homebuilder. In his spare time John founded, launched and grew a company in a valuable eCommerce retailer of high end, personalized watches that disrupted the $2B commemorative class ring market. John was featured in iW magazine in Sept of 2011 and shortly thereafter sold his company to a private investor.
By leveraging his business acumen and the knowledge gained from a large homebuilder, he strongly believes (and clients agree!) that his diverse experiences give him an edge in the fragmented, bustling and always changing real estate industry.
As an avid traveler, John knows the excitement and energy that comes from living in a vibrant and growing metropolitan area and is thrilled to be able to help clients find their perfect home in the heart of Music City. John is happily married to his wife, Francie and is a proud dad of two sons, John and Parker.
Trina Spangler
Chief Design Officer
Trina@HVUrban.com
Trina Spangler got her start in the luxury home building business the old-fashioned way. She designed and built several personal residences for herself and her family and discovered something new with each and every home! After almost thirty years of building her own homes, Trina knew the time was right to share all she’d learned with Nashville and Hidden Valley Homes was born!
While Trina’s clients are the beneficiaries of all that experience, Trina considers herself the lucky one. She loves being able to do a job that energizes her, watching ideas and dreams come alive. Trina is truly knowledgeable about every step of the home building process. She understands that designing and planning a “forever” home can be stressful but reminds her clients that they’ll never regret following their heart. She speaks from experience. It’s hard for Trina to pinpoint one “favorite” part of her job, but when pressed Trina shares that she loves watching a home come together from start to finish. From selection of materials, styles and building options, Trina works closely with customers to ensure that their vision is realized and that each and every home feels warm and livable. Professionally, she’s proudest of the clients who have hired Hidden Valley Homes to build their dream home and then referred friends and family because they were so pleased with their finished product.
Trina and her husband, Jim, are the proud parents of two daughters, Ali and Lauren. Even though Trina’s girls have left the nest, she is still “raising” her beloved West Highland Terrier, Chloe.
Lauren is a Nashville native who grew up in a family of home builders. She Graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2014 with her bachelor’s degree. After graduation, Lauren decided to continue her education by earning her Master of Accounting from Belmont University.

Therefore, Lauren passed her test to achieve the designation of CPA. With her education complete, Lauren worked in public accounting with KPMG for 2 years. Working there, she formed a basis for accounting, auditing, and financial consultation. Wanting to learn the business that she grew up watching her parents build, Lauren joined the Hidden Valley Homes team in 2017.
She is the lead accountant for HV Urban and also handles all sales and settlement activities. She is involved in the selling and marketing of homes-specifically performing competitive analysis’s and merchandising the brand that has been built throughout the greater Nashville area.
